Luck By Chance started out as a solo project done for fun by the band's leader, Charli Cossitt, in 2021. Under the name "Orbitron", she released three EPs and a full-length album throughout 2022 and 2023. Renaming to "Luck By Chance" in July 2023 under the advising of Canadian folk legend Jesse Roper, the project was never really the same after. Two albums so far have been released under this name, with the latter, the highly anticipated "THE BIRTH OF CHARLIE", being considered the first "canon" release, due to the inclusion of future band member Vira "Vinny" Karavaieva, which set the stage for what could now be considered a sort of "rebirth" of Luck By Chance as a fully-fledged band, rather than a solo project. Right now, Luck By Chance are working on their second canon release, which is on track to come out in 2025.

They describe their music as "power pop with extra power", commonly using the term "heart-ships" as a summative term. The band is currently comprised of:
